Choosing the right shoe

It might be difficult for you to choose the right shoe. Badminton shoe price is also not that cheap. For me, i go for asics. Was using yonex before and i feel asics is suitable to me. As yonex has power cusion model, asics offers the same segment which known as gel. The price as low as rm350 and can go up to rm500 depending on the model and where you buy it.

I've also been trying fleet high-end model and the feel and comfortable is there. It is your choice and money. Good luck!

Axiata Cup 2012 : Personal analysis

Well, it is hard to be Malaysian sometimes. It was really painful when seeing both Malaysia teams being harassed by our neighbor country. At the absent of Dato' Lee Chong Wei (DLCW), I don't know either we can call Malaysia is a one of top badminton country or not. We can't put our all hope on DLCW as he is getting older and lose his energy anyway. Perhaps most of Malaysian is have the same feeling with me. Do you?

Ahh.. let the bygone be bygone. In our failure to be in finalist of Axiata Cup 2012, I still can see our future in the next 2-3 years. We really have talented young player. Do you agree with me?
Look at the skill of Misbun Ramdan, Daren Liew, Zulfadli and Zulkarnaen Iskandar. Yes they did defeated by the great Indonesian player Rumbaka. But at least they gave good competition to him. Ohh maybe I forgot to mention about Hafiz Hashim.:)

The thing is they have to be exposed. Let we congratulate BAM in their hard work to produce such great player. Misbun Ramdan, he is really fast player, great smashing skill, and fast backhand smash and good in net some more. He needs to work more on footwork and more international exposure. He is the one I can trust to be the next DLCW. Agree?

Daren Liew, he is already there. He got almost everything except experience. Look at his game with world #9 Simon Santoso, he has been bullied badly. What all he need is experience at international level. As his playing style, within next 2-3 years he can be next Chen Jin? Will he?

Zulfadli, the most identified weaknesses he has, is the movement. During his game with Rumbaka, we was really slow moving. Fitness level? He is just not there yet. Secondly, he has to work out on his backhand skill. Many times Rumbaka attacked him on the backhand side and it was working. If he has able to overcome these two weaknesses, yes he will be the next Rashid Sidek?

Lastly, Zulkarnaen Iskandar. He was really impressed me on his 1st and 3rd game against Rumbaka. Somehow I saw Nabil ( Juara Lawak Musim ke-2) in the court with Lin Dan character. He was really having great attitude and always listens to his couch. He was really fast at the net and stayed in good passion. If you noticed, Rumbaka always send the shuttle to the base-line. He really can't play as normal especially at the net. Zukarnaen was super fast when he was at the net. Bottom-line, Zulkarnaen have to work harder and to expose himself at international level.

Not forget to mention that Indonesia have done great job in producing young great player. They are Rumbaka, Ahsan-Setiawan, Tommy Sugiarto and others. Perhaps Rumbaka is the next great Taufik Hidayat. Can Indonesia be the next badminton dominator?

Tips: Choosing the right badminton racquet

The tips going to be lengthy if i'm going post everything here. Thus, there will be a few part and this will be the PART 1

There is no such racquet that fit us. The thing is we're the one who need to fit into it. After all, the racquet would only help to increase your game by 10% ..at most. The rest are depending on your skill, court condition, temperature and of course the pressure from audience (or yourself) :p

I'll be focusing on the grip size and the weight of the racquet on this PART 1 post.
Unfortunately we don't have such racquet standard measurement for all brands. As Yonex is the common badminton racquet brand, i'll be taking example from it.

Please take a look into your own Yonex racquet...make sure it is not the imitation one ye.. at the cone (connector between shaft and grip), at least 2 properties engraved there. eg "G5 4U". What this actually mean? G is for grip size and the U is the heaviness. G5 is smaller grip size compare to G4. And 3U is heavier than 4U racquet. Remember it only applicable to Yonex brand.

THE GRIP

What is the best grip size then? myself prefer G5 instead of G4. G4 give you better control and G5 for better power. Be extra careful that sometimes smaller grip size will harm you. Your finger may injure if the grip is too small. Bigger grip size sometimes would make your racquet land into your head opponent! Meaning, it does not suit you. Asian people normally go for G5 and G6 (rare to find) and European people like Peter Gade go for G4. Bigger size people for bigger grip size!

Another thing need to consider, grip size will determine the racquet balance point. Will discuss balance point in the other post later.

THE HEAVINESS

As i mentioned earlier 3U is heavier than 4U. Example Voltric 70, for 3U the range is between 85g to 89g while 4U is between 81g to 84g.In Malaysia it's hard to find Voltric with 4U. so if you trying a new racquet and you find it is too heavy, then consider to use 4U. And if it is too lighter, go for 3U..and if it is already 3U, you should go for another model.

Bear in mind that grip size also determine the racquet heaviness. It is not the racquet getter heavier but the feeling are. G5 would increase the balance point (BT) thus you'll feel heavier. In short, below is the indicator

LIGHT----------------------------HEAVY

G4-4U < G5-4U < G4-3U < G5-3U

..to be continued in PART 2..

Saja suka-suka : What makes Taufik Hidayat best friend to Datuk Lee Chong Wei

Just suka-suka :What makes Taufik Hidayat best friend to Datuk Lee Chong Wei

Well everybody knows that Taufik Hidayat (TH) is a best friend to Datuk Lee Chong Wei (DLCW) in badminton world. The question is why TH? What so special about TH that makes DLCW close to him? I personally never have known these two great players but often following their update from media, internet and magazine.

Taufik Hidayat
------------------
If I may recall, TH was turn to professional since last 5 years ago. Prior to that he was playing with PBSI and been in the Indonesia elite squad since he was 16. He really impressed the world on his 1st appearance in Thomas Cup as a third single player. What a young talented and bright future player. It was early Y2K year. Was it?

His powerful backhands smash really scaring his opponents. Sometimes they prefer to place the shuttlecock on his forehand rather than on the backhand side. To me, he is the legend and the world of badminton would be different without this great Indonesian player.

TH Characters
-------------------
These are only my personal observation and they might be right and even wrong.
- Very sincere type of person
- Was hot tempered kind of player. But now even cool.
- Friendly
- Always give positive comment to press

And perhaps DLCW find that TH has similar characters with him. DLCW is very humble and friendly type of person. Love to greet people and always try to make a joke. We often have seen these on TV when press interviewing him. Indonesia is a neighbor to Malaysia anyway! :p

Really wish all the best for these 2 great players.
